Erika Barban, Munich—It is with deep sorrow that the family and friends of Erika Barban share the news of her passing. Erika, a loving wife and devoted mother, passed away on October 2nd in a hospital in Munich, leaving behind her husband and two young children, Ayko (9) and Keno (4).
Born in Italy, Erika dedicated her life to her family with love and passion. She and her husband spent many years living in Asia, having met in Shanghai, before settling in Munich. Erika had been battling a severe illness for an extended period, and although her health appeared to be improving in recent months, her sudden passing has left her family in deep grief.
Erika and her husband had plans to open a Feng Shui and Reiki center in Italy, hoping to help others on their personal journeys. Sadly, these dreams were cut short, and now her family is facing the difficult task of repatriating Erika to Italy for a final farewell, while also arranging a memorial service in Munich.
Her husband is now left to care for their two children, including Keno, who was born with Down syndrome and requires continued intensive therapy. The emotional and financial burden has been overwhelming for the family.
A fundraiser organized by Tina Ziegler, Erika’s sister-in-law, is now in place to help cover the costs of Erika’s repatriation, funeral services in both Italy and Munich, and support for the children, particularly for Keno’s ongoing therapies. The family has been touched by the outpouring of support, with donations already coming in, including €250 from an anonymous donor and €100 from Angelika Kluge.
We extend our deepest condolences to Erika Barban’s family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through their grief.
