Erika Diarte Carr, a 30-year-old mother from Indianapolis, IN, has tragically passed away, leaving her family and community in deep sorrow. Erika was a devoted single mother to her two children, Jeremiah (7) and Aaliyah (5), who were the center of her life.
Erika had been silently battling small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC), a rare and aggressive form of cancer, for the past two years. She was diagnosed in May 2022 after seeking medical help for what she thought was a shoulder injury. Sadly, by the time of her diagnosis, the cancer had already spread, drastically altering her and her children’s lives.
Despite her illness, Erika remained a full-time working mother, enduring surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. However, in recent months, her health deteriorated significantly after being diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome earlier this year, leading to further complications like weight gain, bone deterioration, and other health challenges.
On September 18th, 2024, Erika received devastating news from her oncologist: treatment would no longer be effective, and she was given three months to live. She made the brave decision to discontinue treatment and spend her remaining time with her children and loved ones, focusing on ensuring their well-being after her passing.
In her final days, Erika set up a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses and to create a trust fund for her children. Her request was simple—any donation, no matter how small, would go toward helping her family during this difficult time. She expressed immense gratitude to her medical team and to all who had supported her during her battle.
Erika’s strength, love, and dedication to her children will always be remembered by those who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of resilience and devotion.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Erika Diarte Carr. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this painful time. May her children find strength and comfort in the love she had for them.

I just wanted to say I’m sorry and My prayers go out to her family and children ❤️🪽🕊️🙌 I lost My second Son on July 5 th and he left two Sons behind.. That’s the hardest part but Children are closet to God .. So I hope her children know about The Lord which I’m sure they do and they are comforted by him just as my Grandchildren are .. They know where to reach when they feel alone and they have told me it comforts them and through that they see their signs God has blessed them with knowing their father still lives in Spirit.. I am praying these babies know and see the same if only The World knew that truth it would be a much happier place knowing we Will meet again .. Some just had to leave their flesh behind sooner for Gods greater plan for us all .. I know in times like this It’s hard to believe because of suffering but that suffering is not God .. that comes from This World.. My Love goes out to Everyone that is affected by this .. This is Beautiful what she did for her babies .. She left behind light In this time of darkness..🕊️✨🪽🫶🏻😇🙏🏻🙌😌
