Esteban "Stevie" Velazquez, Ensenada, Mexico— It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Esteban "Stevie" Velazquez, who tragically lost his life on November 14, 2024, while attending the Baja 1000 with his son. Esteban was fatally struck by a trophy truck during the pre-race technical inspection when the vehicle unexpectedly lunged forward into the crowd. His son also sustained injuries in the incident.
Esteban was a dedicated father, known for his unwavering commitment to his son and his boundless love for his family. He worked tirelessly at Ames Construction to provide for his loved ones and was beloved by all who knew him for his joyful spirit and generosity. His son, who was the center of his world, is now left to face an uncertain future without his father’s loving presence.
A fundraiser has been set up to assist with the family’s immediate needs. The funds raised will help cover the costs of bringing Esteban’s body back to the United States for a proper burial, supporting his son’s care and education, and providing financial stability for the family as they navigate this heartbreaking journey.
The community has already begun showing support, with donations coming from Valerie Rincon, Rayann Bunting, and Kristina Vanderpool.
We offer our deepest condolences to the Velazquez family during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they endure this immense loss.
