In July, Florentino underwent stomach surgery to address new aneurysms, but his health continued to deteriorate. He struggled with appetite loss, difficulty speaking, and an inability to open his eyes. A few weeks ago, after another respiratory arrest, Florentino was intubated and placed on life support. Despite doctors’ best efforts, his condition did not improve. His family was told that he only had a few hours to live after repeated resuscitations.
Now, Florentino’s family, led by his daughter Meralis Milagros Gil Burgos, is seeking help to honor his final wish of being laid to rest in the Dominican Republic. A fundraiser has been organized to cover the expenses of his repatriation and burial. So far, $1,245 has been raised out of the $10,000 goal, with contributions from 17 donors. The family remains grateful for the support and prayers they have received during this difficult time.
“We are deeply saddened by his passing but are comforted knowing he is now at peace. Please keep us in your prayers and, if possible, support us in fulfilling his final wish,” shared Meralis Milagros Gil Burgos in her heartfelt message.
