Floyd Wayne Fagg Jr., affectionately known as Wayne, passed away on August 16, 2024, at the age of 63. Wayne, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many, was a cherished member of the Utah County community. His life, marked by love, faith, and service, has left an indelible impact on all who knew him.
Born on May 30, 1961, in Santa Monica, California, to Floyd Wayne Fagg and Ellen Mullville Fagg, Wayne graduated from Provo High School in 1979 and later attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. He dedicated his career to software sales and was deeply committed to serving others, including fulfilling a full-time LDS mission in Peru.
Wayne was a devoted father to his children—Brittany, Jacob, Allie, Ben, and Charli—and a proud grandfather to his five grandchildren. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his love for them was evident in every moment he spent with them. Wayne was also known for his passion for BYU sports, history, politics, and community service. His infectious laugh and kindness touched the hearts of all who crossed his path.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Jake Roper, who is deeply mourning his father, shared, "The Man, The Myth, The Legend. It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Floyd Wayne Fagg Jr., known to all as Wayne. My dad enjoyed sports, reading, history, music, and cinema. What that means is you stood no chance against him in a game of trivia. His grandkids were his pride and joy, and I know he’s up there in heaven, still being ‘Papa Wayne’ to my son Ivar."
The outpouring of love and support from the community has been overwhelming. Ben Brockbank expressed his condolences by saying, "I am so, so sorry. All my love." Steven Kapp Perry added, "What a great guy—so sorry to hear this." Jen Harrington Weinstein shared, "I’m so sorry Jake. This is a beautiful tribute to Uncle Wayne. I’m praying for comfort and peace for you and your family."
A fundraiser has been set up by Robb Thomas on behalf of Wayne’s son, Jacob Roper, to assist with the cremation and the celebration of life expenses. So far, $1,767 has been raised out of the $5,000 goal, with generous contributions from friends and family, including a $500 donation from Donn Sant and a $400 donation from Kevin Simpson.
A Celebration of Life for Wayne will be held on October 26th in Provo, Utah, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory.
Wayne Fagg’s life was one of love, service, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Floyd Wayne Fagg Jr. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
