Francisco Javier Urrea Cebreros, known to his friends and family as Frank, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, following a tragic incident during his routine evening run. Frank was only 30 years old and had a bright future ahead of him, filled with dreams and aspirations.
Born on December 30, 1993, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Frank was a charismatic and intelligent young man. He moved to the United States in 2004 at the age of 10, accompanied by his mother and two younger brothers, to reunite with their father in San Leandro, California. Frank attended Del Rey Primary School, Edendale Middle School, and later San Lorenzo High School, where he cultivated a strong and determined character.
Frank was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about running. He was known for his disciplined approach to his fitness routine, often running four to five times a week. On the evening of August 4, 2024, Frank went out for a run, as he frequently did, but tragically did not return home. His untimely departure has left his family and friends devastated.
He is survived by his loving parents, Soccorro Cebreros Ontiveros and Francisco Javier Urrea Mendoza, and his two brothers, Luis Fernando Urrea Cebreros and Andres Urrea Cebreros. Frank’s remains will be returned to Sinaloa, the place of his birth and childhood, where his family will say their final goodbyes.
In honor of Frank’s memory, a fundraiser has been organized by Roxana Cruz to support the family with the costs associated with his viewing in the U.S. and his burial in Sinaloa. As of now, $50 has been raised out of the $10,000 goal. The fundraiser highlights the impact Frank had on those around him, as his memory continues to inspire support and love from the community.
The Facebook community has also shared heartfelt messages in remembrance of Frank. Roxana Cruz, a close friend, expressed, "My students’ brother was tragically killed in a hit-and-run when he was out for a run on August 4th. His family is in need of support for his viewing here in the US and his burial in Sinaloa. Please donate if you’re able to."
