George Emerson Pitcher, New Haven, CT— George Emerson Pitcher passed away on October 20, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories. Born in Hamden, Connecticut, on October 5, 1931, George was a beloved son of Emerson and Gertrude Squires Pitcher.
George was known for his vibrant personality and enjoyed bowling, gambling, and being a passionate Boston Red Sox fan. He worked as a milkman and dairy worker for the now-defunct Knudsen’s and Augurs dairy, and after retiring, he took on odd delivery jobs to keep busy. He was also fond of traveling and enjoyed life to its fullest, always with a great sense of humor.
His niece, Sally Pitcher, who cared for him over the years, has set up a fundraiser to honor George’s final wishes. Despite some funds raised for his cremation and other funeral expenses, Sally is seeking further support to ensure his final affairs are properly completed.
The community is united in grief as George’s passing has left a deep void. He is survived by his niece Sally, great-niece Tiffany McGoldrick, and special friends Lynda and John Finch, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by all of his siblings, Robert, Frederick, Raymond, Edward, Gordon, Virginia, Mary, and Harriet Pitcher.
A memorial service for George will be scheduled at a later time, with Colonial Funeral in charge of arrangements.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to George’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
