Gina Favro, a devoted preschool teacher and cherished member of the Riverside community, passed away this morning after suffering a massive stroke. Known for her warm and generous spirit, Gina touched the lives of everyone she met, especially the young minds she nurtured throughout her career. She was often found lying on the floor with her students, engaging them in hands-on activities, science experiments, or celebrating special moments in her classroom.
Gina is survived by her loving mother, Marianne Favro, with whom she shared an incredibly strong bond. As an only child, Gina was deeply committed to ensuring her mother’s well-being. This loss is devastating for Marianne, and as she navigates this unimaginable grief, the community is rallying around her to provide support.
Gina is also survived by her long-time boyfriend, Joe Hassey, who is heartbroken at the loss of his best friend.
A fundraiser has been organized by Susan Alyssa Simone to help cover Gina’s medical and funeral expenses. The goal is set at $10,000, and the community is encouraged to contribute to ease the financial burden on Marianne during this difficult time.
Mary Ashby, a relative of Gina, shared her sorrow on Facebook, saying, "Good morning. Please continue to pray for my cousin Gina and her mom. Hold on to those you love. You never know what might happen after you walk out the door to start your day." Other friends and community members, including Cheryl Rhoads, Denise Roccia, Kaitlyn DeMatteo, and Cindy Stevens Morris, have also expressed their condolences and are keeping Gina and her family in their prayers.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Gina Favro. Our thoughts and prayers are with her mother, Marianne, and all who loved Gina during this incredibly difficult time.
