Despite the hopes of his loved ones who gathered at the hospital, his condition worsened. It was discovered that his body was fighting a massive infection, and his organs were failing. Gregory’s mother, Cheryl, was by his side when his heart began to slow down the next morning. She comforted him, telling him that he was loved and that it was okay for him to let go, ending his suffering. Gregory passed away shortly thereafter.
In memory of Gregory, Hailey Hopkins has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to support the family and help fund a celebration of life for him, which reflects the love and laughter he shared with so many. "Greg always knew how to make you laugh, and he always made you feel like family," said Hailey in her tribute. The goal of the fundraiser is to ensure that Gregory is honored in a way that befits the impact he had on the lives of others.
