Guadalupe "Lupita" Vasquez Aviles, a beloved member of the La Puente, CA community, has passed away, leaving her family and friends heartbroken. Lupita was only 28 years old when she tragically suffered heart failure on Saturday, August 17, 2024. A beacon of compassion, she touched the lives of many, serving as a friend and ally to the undocumented, Chicano, and Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities.
Her passing came unexpectedly, and her family is now in the process of preparing for her final farewell. They plan to lay her to rest on September 27, 2024, but they are still in need of financial support to cover the funeral expenses. Her sister, Maricela Vazquez Aviles, has organized a fundraiser with a goal of $11,000 to ensure that Lupita can be honored and remembered in a fitting manner. As of now, no donations have been made, and the family is reaching out to the community for help during this difficult time.
Any contributions left after funeral expenses will be donated to Mt. San Antonio College, a local institution, to assist students facing similar challenges as Lupita did, helping them overcome financial barriers in their education.
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Guadalupe "Lupita" Vasquez Aviles. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this painful period.
