Known fondly as "Gut" by those close to him, Gustavo was undergoing treatment for a minor orthopedic trauma to his elbow when he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest caused by a pulmonary embolism.
Gustavo’s passing has deeply affected his family, especially his three children, Jan, Gigi, and Vicky. He was a loving father, and his premature departure has left a void that words cannot fill. Gustavo’s vibrant personality and his passion for life were evident to all who knew him. He was described as a "spirit of light" and "a pure soul" by his friends, who fondly remember his love for plants, animals, and his zest for living each moment to the fullest.
A beautiful memorial service was held on September 12th, 2024, at Cemitério da Saudade in his hometown of Campinas. Over 150 close friends and family members gathered to pay their respects, sharing stories and memories of the joy he brought to their lives.

The funds will be used to cover funeral expenses and travel costs incurred by his children, who traveled from Colorado and the Netherlands to say their final goodbyes.
