Harry Mick Marchant of Sun Prairie, WI, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family at home. Born on September 15, 1951, in Ashland, WI, Harry was the son of Marvon L. and Dorothy J. (Sullivan) Marchant of Saxon, WI.
Harry’s life was marked by his dedication to service, both in his family and in the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1972 to 1976. He followed in the footsteps of his father Marvon, a proud WWII veteran, and was joined in the Navy by his brothers and his wife, Beverly. After his military service, Harry and Beverly lived in Rota, Spain, for two years before returning to the United States, where they married in June 1978 and settled in Alexandria, Virginia.
Harry later earned a degree in Computer Programming and worked in various programming roles in Wisconsin, eventually retiring from Dick’s Sporting Goods due to disability. Outside of work, Harry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. He was well-known for his love of music and his social gatherings in the “blackhole,” a place where his laughter and good spirits resonated with those who knew him best.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, his children Roberta (Lane) Alexander of Madison, Ryan Marchant of Manitowoc, and Bradley Marchant of Sun Prairie, as well as his siblings and grandchildren Neeve, Hermoine, and Madeline. Harry’s family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the Agrace Hospice Care team, SSM Health, and the VA’s care team for their support during his final days.
A celebration of Harry’s life will take place at a later date, with gatherings planned locally and in Saxon, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to help support them during this difficult time. A fundraiser has been organized by Harry’s son, Bradley Marchant, with donations already being received from supporters, including a $100 contribution from Ryan Weisensel.
