Heather Ennis Klug, West Fargo, ND— Heather Ennis Klug passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2024, following a brave 14-year battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Known for her vibrant personality and indomitable spirit, Heather left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on March 2, 1973, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Heather was the cherished daughter of Raynold and Susan Ennis. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1991 and later earned a degree in History from the University of North Dakota in 2002. Heather’s love story with her husband, Bill Klug, began in high school. They eloped in Crookston, MN, in 1998 before celebrating their union with family and friends.
Heather’s professional life was marked by successful careers with TMI Hospitality and Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she was known for her kindness, positivity, and organizational skills. Her colleagues affectionately referred to her as “work mom,” a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Heather had a passion for travel and lived life to the fullest, with notable trips across Europe, Alaska, and many others, all while facing her illness with unparalleled grace. She was also famously known at NDSU tailgating as the “Bison Blessing Lady” for her infectious joy and love of community gatherings.
In a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, David Tiffany Mansfield shared, “Heather Ennis Klug was one of those souls. A ball of joy and energy with a light many of us thought was incapable of extinguishing. Moments before we raised our glasses last night at a reunion that she helped set up, she ended her battle.”
Fundraising efforts have been organized by Kevin Governor to assist the family with medical expenses. Donations so far include $250 from Jennifer Armstrong, $25 from an anonymous donor, and $100 from Mel L, showing the love and support from those whose lives Heather touched.
Heather is survived by her loving husband Bill Klug, her mother Susan Ennis, her siblings Josh and Aja, as well as extended family and countless friends. Her father, Raynold Ennis, and niece, Mazilyn Azure Davis, preceded her in passing.
