Herb "Mr. Beef" Barcomb, Champlain, NY—The Champlain community is in mourning following the recent passing of Herb "Mr. Beef" Barcomb. Known for his kindness and dedication, Herb was a cherished member of the community, leaving behind his wife Laurie and their children, aged 8, 15, and 21, as well as a daughter-in-law.
Herb was deeply involved in the local community, serving as a member of the fire department and working as a school bus driver for NCCS. He was also beloved by the children at Laurie’s daycare, who affectionately referred to him as "Mr. Beef." His passing has left a void in the hearts of many who knew and loved him.
Herb’s final years were marked by health struggles, including a long wait for a kidney transplant, frequent dialysis, and numerous medical appointments. After a heart catheterization revealed the need for open-heart surgery, he underwent the procedure at UVM Medical Center. Though the surgery was initially successful, complications arose, leading to his cardiac arrest and the difficult decision by his family to let him go.
Laurie, now facing the immense challenge of grieving her husband while continuing to run their home daycare, is also tasked with supporting their children and managing the financial burden left behind. A fundraiser has been organized by Aimee Dubuque to help alleviate some of these financial pressures, including funeral costs, medical bills, and other expenses.
The community is called upon to support Laurie and her children during this challenging time, with donations being directly transferred to Laurie to help her navigate the difficult days ahead.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Herb "Mr. Beef" Barcomb. Our thoughts and prayers are with Laurie, their children, and the entire Champlain community during this time of sorrow.
