Herbert Nelson Huezo, South Central Los Angeles—The community is mourning the passing of Herbert Nelson Huezo, who left us on August 13, 2024, following a 10-day battle with Covid Pneumonia. Herbert passed away peacefully in the hospital, surrounded by love, at 6:03 a.m. He is deeply missed by his younger brother Rafael, sister Nancy, nephew Ricky, and niece Emily.
Born on March 3, 1983, Herbert spent his entire life in South Central Los Angeles, a place he cherished and called home. Herbert’s passions included enjoying classic 80s movies and immersing himself in books. An anime and manga enthusiast long before it became popular, Herbert would bravely attend Comic Con events, even though he generally preferred to avoid crowds.
The Huezo family has faced significant losses over the years. Herbert’s mother, Reina Portillo, passed away in November 2013, followed by his father, Nelson Huezo, in March 2014. Last year, Herbert’s middle brother, Elmer Elliot Huezo, also passed away, leaving a profound void in the family.
In honor of Herbert’s memory and to give him a proper farewell, a fundraiser has been organized by Jovani Rodriguez. The goal is to raise $15,000 to support funeral expenses. The family is reaching out for help, asking for donations and prayers during this challenging time. Every contribution, regardless of size, will help support Herbert’s loved ones in their time of grief.
Our hearts go out to the Huezo family during this difficult time. May Herbert Nelson Huezo rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in the love and support of their community.
