Herbert W. Barber Jr., Eureka, CA— Herbert W. Barber Jr. passed away on July 26, 2024, leaving the community in mourning. Known affectionately as "Herb," he was an integral part of his community and beloved by many.
Herb was a dedicated member of the Eureka community, known for his friendly demeanor and willingness to lend a hand. He was a proud member of the Chapparels car club, where he served as president for many years, and was also involved with the Eagles and Moose organizations. Recently, he had also become a part of the Veterans community.
He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Kraemer, with whom he had two children, Tina and Herbert Barber III, known as Little Herbie. Although they separated, their bond remained strong until the end. He also served a term in the Air Force, where he met his former wife, Jean, and together they raised two sons, Michael and Christopher, both of whom preceded him in death.
Herb was well-known for his love of cars and trucks, winning multiple titles at car shows and the World of Wheels for his meticulous attention to detail. His passion for vehicles was matched only by his love for his family and community.
In tribute to Herb, his son Little Herbie, Herbert W. Barber III, has organized a fundraiser to help cover funeral costs and celebrate his father’s life. The goal is to raise $6,400, with no donations made as of yet.
