Hla Aung Kyaw, Fremont, CA Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Husband and Father

Hla Aung Kyaw, Fremont, CA—The community is deeply saddened by the passing of Hla Aung Kyaw, who passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer that lasted nearly three years. He spent his final three months at UCSF Medical Center, enduring with strength and peace, often finding solace in meditation and the teachings of Buddha.

Hla Aung Kyaw was not only a devoted husband to Dr. Hla Hla Myaing, who has been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease since before the COVID-19 pandemic, but also a guiding light to his family. He was known for his wisdom, strength, and unwavering support during difficult times. His passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

In honor of his memory and to provide him with the dignified farewell he deserves, his son, Shane Aung, has organized a fundraiser to support the costs of Hla Aung Kyaw’s funeral and memorial services. The goal of the fundraiser is set at $10,000, and while no donations have been made yet, the family is hopeful for the support of friends and the community during this challenging time.

Funeral services are scheduled for today, August 23, 2024, at 12 PM at the Fremont Chapel of the Roses, with a memorial service to follow tomorrow, August 24, 2024, at 9:30 AM at the Dhamma Nanda Vihara Buddhist Temple.
