Howard Jackson, Grand Rapids, MI— Howard Jackson passed away unexpectedly on the morning of December 7th, 2024. He was surrounded by family during his final moments.
Earlier this year, Howard faced significant health challenges. In July, he suffered a stroke that led to brain damage and required him to be placed in a medically induced coma for three weeks. After a period of recovery, Howard began to improve and was able to return home. However, his condition worsened, and by October, he was hospitalized again due to a severe infection that began in his foot and spread through his bloodstream, eventually affecting his heart and causing organ damage.
Howard was moved to the ICU on Thursday and remained in a vegetative state. Family members kept vigil, sharing stories, prayers, and moments of comfort with him. Despite efforts to revive him, his body could not endure, and he passed away early on Friday morning.
In accordance with Howard’s wishes, his family is organizing a cremation service to honor his life, which will take place on December 20th, 2024. The family has set up a fundraiser to cover the costs of the service, hoping for support from friends and the community.
