Ian Simiyu Sindani, South East Melbourne—The community is in deep mourning following the tragic passing of Ian Simiyu Sindani. Ian, a third-year student at Chisholm Institute, where he was studying for a Bachelor of Mental Health & Drug and Alcohol, was known for his social and charming personality. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and grandson, whose presence brought joy to those around him.
Ian’s body was discovered in a paddock in Cranbourne East on Thursday, August 15, after being reported missing for five days. The exact circumstances of his passing remain unclear, with investigations by the Coroners Court still ongoing. His sudden departure has left a significant void in the hearts of his family and the broader community.
Ian is survived by his mother, Alice Sikwata, who resides in Kenya, and his siblings, Saravallary and Micken Sindani, who are based in Melbourne, as well as Derek Sindani in Kenya. He was a cherished nephew to Isabella, Anita, and Jael Sikwata, and Erastus Mafuta, all of whom live in Melbourne, and a loving grandson to Violet Sikwata. Ian’s untimely departure has deeply affected his family, who remember him for his warmth and charm.
To assist with the expenses for Ian’s repatriation to Kenya, a fundraiser has been organized by his brother, Micken Sindani. So far, $500 AUD of the $5,000 goal has been raised through the generosity of donors. The family welcomes support and visits from the community at their residence, located at 3 Expedition Circuit, Pakenham.
We extend our deepest condolences to Ian’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
