Iris Shuai, New York, NY—The HudsonWay Immersion School community is mourning the sudden passing of Iris Shuai, a Mandarin PreK4 assistant teacher at the school’s New York campus. Iris passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and inspiration.
Iris was just 25 years old, a vibrant young woman who had accomplished so much since leaving her home in China at the age of 15 to pursue her education. Her passion for learning and teaching was evident in her work, and she touched the hearts of many students, colleagues, and friends.
Her passing has been a tremendous shock to the community. Iris is deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her parents, Aihua Shen and Jun Shuai, who are grieving their loss from China. In this difficult time, a fundraiser has been organized by Sharon Huang to help support Iris’ family as they navigate the costs of coming to the U.S. and to show how much she was loved and valued by those around her.
Though Iris is no longer with us, her impact will continue to resonate in the hearts of the many lives she touched.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Iris Shuai’s family during this heartbreaking time.
