Jack DeJoy, a cherished resident of Spring Lake, passed away on September 28th after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack, known for his love of the outdoors and deep connection to the community, spent 55 years living in the family home he built by Spring Lake, raising five children and creating countless memories on the water.
Jack was an exceptional water skier, even mastering the art of barefoot skiing, and enjoyed participating in the Prior Lake Boat Show. His family has been profoundly impacted by his passing and is now organizing efforts to honor his memory in a meaningful way. His daughter, Denise DeJoy Nissen, has set up a fundraiser to create a memorial bench in Spring Lake Regional Park, across from their home, as a lasting tribute to Jack’s love for the lake.
A celebration of Jack’s life was held on Sunday, October 6th, at Spring Lake Town Hall, where family and friends gathered to honor the man who brought so much joy and spirit to those around him.
The family expresses their gratitude for any donations made in Jack’s honor to support the memorial bench project. Contributions like Eric Cepek’s generous $100 donation are appreciated as they work towards creating a permanent place where loved ones can visit and remember Jack’s life and legacy.
