James "Jim" Schuh, a cherished member of the Lima, Ohio community, passed away at the young age of 21. His high school classmate, David Kriegel, has launched a heartfelt fundraiser to honor Jim’s memory with a memorial marker. The goal of the campaign is to raise $915, with $70 already collected through two donations, including $50 from David Kriegel and $20 from an anonymous donor.
Jim Schuh graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School in 1968 and was admired for his charismatic and kind personality. After high school, he joined the Army National Guard, Lima Unit, and pursued further education at Bowling Green University. Tragically, during the summer of 1969, Jim, then 19, began experiencing pain in his arm while playing touch football. He was soon diagnosed with cancer, which led to the amputation of his left arm. Despite receiving the best possible treatment, Jim passed away at 21 after a period of significant suffering.
In memory of Jim, his classmates have come together to raise funds for a 24-inch by 12-inch flat grave marker from Woodlawn Monuments, which will be placed at Gethsemane Cemetery in Lima, Ohio. Any excess funds will be donated to Lima Central Catholic High School, ensuring that Jim’s legacy continues to touch the lives of others.
We extend our deepest condolences to Jim Schuh’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they remember the incredible person Jim was.
