Jamie Ann Wood, Bloomington, IL—The community is grieving the passing of Jamie Ann Wood, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, who left us on September 2, 2024, after battling metastatic breast cancer for over nine years. Jamie was 43 years old, and her absence is profoundly felt by all who knew her.
Born on September 23, 1980, in Dixon, IL, Jamie was admired for her heartwarming nature, humor, and loyalty. She graduated from Sauk Valley Community College and later earned a degree in public relations from Illinois State University. Known for her ability to connect with people, Jamie made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her involvement in community volunteer work was renowned, and her presence always signaled something good was on the horizon.
Jamie’s life changed forever when she met Jason Wood in 2007, whom she married in 2010. Together, they built a loving family, welcoming two daughters, Vivian and Annalise, who became the light of her life. Jamie’s love, compassion, and strength are reflected in her daughters, and her exceptional qualities as a mother will remain a lasting legacy.
Survived by her husband, Jason Wood, and her daughters, Jamie also leaves behind her mother, Ruth Ann Leffelman, of Dixon, IL, and her sister, Julie Ross, of Selma, TX. She was preceded in death by her father, James V. Leffelman.
A visitation in Jamie’s honor will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Her funeral service will take place the following day, September 14, at 10:00 AM at the same location, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. A light lunch will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a GoFundMe created by Jason Wood to honor Jamie’s memory.
Jamie’s spirit of kindness, courage, and commitment to her loved ones will continue to inspire everyone she touched. She will be forever remembered by her close-knit group, lovingly known as the Rainbow Unicorn Kitten Crew.
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Jamie Ann Wood. May her family and friends find strength during this difficult time, and may her memory live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
