Jamie Jefferson Jackson, Syracuse, NY—Jamie Jefferson Jackson, a long-standing and cherished member of the Syracuse University Parking and Transportation team, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024. Jamie, age 58, had dedicated over 20 years of his life to serving the university, making a lasting impact on his colleagues and those he interacted with.
Jamie was originally from Torrington, CT, and after serving in both the Navy and Army, he pursued his education at Onondaga Community College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Hotel Management. He was known for his contagious laugh and his many roles—devoted veteran, loving father, caring son, and cherished friend.
He is survived by his children: Ryan Jackson, 27, Jordan Jackson, 26, and Nya Jackson, 19, as well as his brothers, Rodney and Derek. His beloved wife, Natalie Jackson, and his parents, Thomas Jefferson Jackson and Virginia Dallas Jackson, predeceased him.
A fundraiser has been established by Kevin VanDerzee to support Jamie’s family during this difficult time. Peter Sala and Kevin VanDerzee have already made contributions to the cause, with Peter donating $500 and Kevin $50. These early donations are a testament to the respect and love Jamie garnered throughout his life.
