Jan’s unexpected death has left his wife, Sandra Helfen, in immense grief and financial distress. Prior to his final position, Jan had been self-employed for many years, which unfortunately led to significant debts. Sandra took out a loan to help alleviate these financial burdens, amounting to €28,000 with interest. As of now, €20,443.89 remains unpaid, along with an additional €1,675.25 in debts from the COVID-19 period. The funeral costs amount to €3,870.78, though Sandra has received €1,000 in support from her family.
Sandra, who works as a saleswoman, is now facing these overwhelming debts alone. In her heartfelt plea, Sandra expressed her devastation, stating, "I feel like everything is crashing down on me – the grief for my beloved husband, who was my rock, always there to catch me. Jan is now irreversibly no longer a part of my life. Therefore, I am hoping for a miracle and some help to at least alleviate some of the financial burden."
A fundraiser organized by Sandra has raised €800 of the €26,000 goal, thanks to the generosity of fourteen donors. Among the contributors, Evelyn Frummet-Esche made the first and top donations of €200 each, while Gitta Knothe recently donated €20.
