Janice Lee Pittman, Christiansburg, VA—The memory of Janice Lee Pittman, who passed away in 1989 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, continues to live on through her family and community. Janice, who died at the age of 39, left behind four daughters, aged 20, 21, 18, and 13 at the time of her passing. Her loss was a tremendous one for the family, but her legacy endures.
Recently, a fundraiser was organized by Malinda Scott, Janice’s daughter, to honor both Janice and another beloved family member, LadyBug, who passed away last week at the age of 42 after a similar battle with cancer. The fundraiser, titled "Ride for Hope: Honoring Janice and LadyBug," aims to support LadyBug’s three young sons, as well as cancer research and a designated cancer center.
In tribute to Janice and LadyBug, Malinda Scott and her husband, Anthony, have organized a memorial motorcycle ride that will take place in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The ride will start in Christiansburg, VA, and make stops in Beckley, WV, where Janice is laid to rest, before continuing to Georgetown, KY, where LadyBug is buried. The event is a powerful gesture of remembrance and a call for support in the fight against cancer.
So far, the fundraiser has raised $100 out of a $3,000 goal, with Sonia DeWalt making the first donation. All proceeds will go towards helping LadyBug’s children and advancing cancer research.
We extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Pittman family and all those affected by this loss. May Janice and LadyBug’s memory continue to inspire hope and strength in the fight against cancer.
