Jennifer D. Miller, a cherished resident of North Kansas City, passed away on Sunday, August 18th, at the Hospice House in NKC. She was found unresponsive in her apartment on Friday and was life-flighted to North Kansas City Hospital, where she was placed in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, the extent of the damage was too severe, and her family made the difficult decision to stop further measures on Saturday afternoon, in accordance with her wishes. Jennifer was moved to hospice care that evening and passed away peacefully on Sunday night.
Jennifer was known for her kindness and generosity, always willing to help others even when she had little to give. Her deep patriotism earned her the nickname "Flag Lady," and she was a long-standing member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in both Liberty and North Kansas City. Her love for her cat, Baby, was unmatched, and she will be remembered fondly by those who knew her.
A fundraiser has been organized by her daughter, MD Young, to help cover the costs of Jennifer’s cremation. The fundraiser has reached its goal of $1,700, thanks to the generosity of eight donors. The community has shown their support in this time of grief, with heartfelt donations from Jacqueline Stanley, Justin Nei, Kathy McCurry, Shirley Pitman, and Carolyn Nelson.
Jennifer’s passing has left a void in the lives of those who loved her, but her memory will live on through the kindness and warmth she shared with everyone she met.
We extend our deepest condolences to Jennifer D. Miller’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
