Jerald Hardy, a 17-year-old from Window Rock, AZ, passed away recently, leaving his family, friends, and community in deep sorrow. Jerald was a promising young man with a bright future, known for his involvement in various community activities and his love for adventure.
Jerald attended Tséhootsooí Diné Bi Olta’ where he learned to read, write, and speak Dine Bizaad. He later continued his education at Navajo Preparatory Academy in Farmington, New Mexico, where he was active in Speech & Debate and Track & Field. Jerald was also a dedicated volunteer, participating in the RezRefuge after-school program, where he not only received assistance but also gave back by helping staff and fellow students.
His summers were spent working at the Navajo Nation Zoo, and he took pride in assisting his family at the RST Ranch in Banana Wash every Memorial Day weekend. Jerald’s love for travel led him to many adventures, including trips to Florida, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Hawaii.
In honor of Jerald’s memory, a fundraiser has been organized by his brother, Eian Tsosie, to help cover the costs of his services. The goal is to raise $2,500, and as of now, $220 has been collected through generous donations.
Jerald’s friends and community members have taken to social media to share their condolences and memories. Blaine Nordvold, Angeline Roan, Stacie Nordvold, Lee Lee No, and Michelene Jackson are among those who have expressed their sorrow and shared heartfelt messages about Jerald on Facebook.
Services for Jerald, also known as JD, will be held on Monday, August 26th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. The schedule is as follows:

- 11:00am: Burial at St. Michael’s Community Cemetery
- 12:00pm: Reception at Catholic Church Bingo Hall
