Jervari Jackson, Chicago, IL— Jervari Jackson, known affectionately by many as JJ, J5, Slim, and Vari, tragically passed away on December 13, 2024, at the young age of 19. A beloved figure in the Chicago basketball community, Jervari’s untimely death has left his family, friends, and teammates devastated.

Jervari was introduced to the community at just 12 years old through the Hoopademix non-profit basketball program, where he quickly captured the hearts of those around him with his charismatic personality and natural talent on the court. His basketball skills were recognized early on, and he was known for his love of the game. Those who knew him remember him fondly not only for his athletic abilities but also for his kindness and the joy he brought to others.

At this incredibly difficult time, a fundraiser has been set up by Ken Jungwirth, a member of the community, to help support Jervari’s family with funeral expenses. The family’s loss is profound, and the support from the community is helping to ease the burden during this heartbreaking time. As of now, $200 has been raised, with donations from Kathy Ellis and Puja Woodford.
