Joe Baldwin, Bedford Hills, NY—Joe Baldwin’s family faces an overwhelming loss, as their beloved father recently passed away. The community has come together in support, raising $10,618 of the $12,000 goal to help bring Joe home and honor him.
Joe was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital on July 16th, 2024, with a suspected case of sepsis. After a few days of uncertainty, it was discovered that the sepsis was caused by a previously undiagnosed bacterial infection. Unfortunately, Joe’s condition worsened, and he also contracted COVID-19 during his hospital stay. Despite the family’s hopes and moments of improvement, the reality of his condition became apparent, and they prepared for the inevitable.
On his last day, Joe expressed his wish to spend his final moments at home, surrounded by his loved ones. The family is now faced with the daunting financial burden of hospice care, which is mostly out-of-pocket. Sara Girardi, the fundraiser’s organizer, has been instrumental in gathering support to fulfill Joe’s final wishes and ease the burden on their mother during this difficult time.
The community’s response has been heartwarming, with 84 donations coming in to help the Baldwin family. Pat and Carmen Diggins made the top donation of $2,000, while Don McCann and Julie Gallagher also contributed significantly.
The love and support from friends and family have been a source of comfort for the Baldwins as they navigate the hospice and funeral process. Joe’s memory will be cherished, and his legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Baldwin family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time.
