Johnnie Mae Bryant, Pickens, SC—Johnnie Mae Bryant, aged 91, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center. A beloved matriarch and pillar of strength, she leaves behind a legacy of care and devotion to her family and community. Born on April 17, 1933, in Easley, SC, Johnnie was the daughter of the late Fred Coyle and Lola Ellen Duncan Coyle. She was also the devoted wife to her late husband, Jessie Bryant, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.
Known for her nurturing spirit, Johnnie was referred to by many simply as "Care." She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, having raised a large extended family with love and attention. She was passionate about the outdoors, often spending time trimming and cutting trees. Her legacy is carried on by her children, Hazel McCall and Linda Garrison (Gene), her siblings, Freddie Coyle Jr., Joseph "Bud" Samuel Coyle, Carolyn Rita Faye Coyle, and Mary Magdalene Coyle, as well as 7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Johnnie was predeceased by her children Mitchell Ray Bryant, James Phillip Bryant, and Marilyn Arlene Thompson. A memorial service is planned for Friday, January 3, 2025, at 1 pm at Sosebee Mortuary South Chapel.
A fundraising campaign has been organized by DiAnna Elaine, on behalf of Stevie Bryant, to assist with funeral expenses. The goal of the campaign is to raise $1,600 to help cover costs associated with the memorial service.
