Johnny Croney—The Okemah community is grieving the loss of Johnny Croney, who passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Johnny was known for his kindness, humility, and deep love for his family. Described as the "best brother a sister could ask for," he was also a proud father and grandfather, and a beloved uncle who brought joy to everyone around him.
Johnny was deeply committed to his family, living with and caring for his mother until she passed. He was a skilled tree service provider, earning the admiration of all his customers as the "best tree man" they had ever seen. Beyond his professional skills, Johnny had an extraordinary talent for singing and songwriting, particularly in Gospel music, which he performed with great passion. His sister, Marian Klutts, expressed her deep sorrow on Facebook, saying, "He always had a smile on his face and 99% of the time, was wearing OU attire of some kind. Johnny Dale Croney, you are and forever will be powerfully missed, and I am PROUD to have called you MY BROTHER."
The community has rallied around the Croney family during this difficult time. Rachael Lee has organized a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses. So far, $370 has been raised out of the $6,000 goal, thanks to generous donations from Heather & Jay Mcfarlin Family, Christian Voorhees, and two anonymous donors.
Many friends and family members have shared their condolences and memories on Facebook. Tamra Bledsoe Keeney offered prayers of comfort, while Kay Hutcherson fondly remembered Johnny’s beautiful voice when he sang to her grandmother at the nursing home. Connie Henry recalled the touching moment when Johnny sang a song he had written at her niece’s funeral.
The loss of Johnny Croney has left a void in the lives of those who knew him. His warmth, generosity, and musical talent will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Johnny Croney. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this challenging time.
