Joe, as he was affectionately known, was a cherished friend, musician, and mentor who dedicated his life to fostering a love for music in his community.
For 60 years, Joe owned and operated Miconi Music Store on Route 1 (East Washington Street), where he provided music lessons and instruments to countless students, including those in the North Attleboro High School band. His store was a hub of musical education, with proficient teachers offering lessons in various instruments. Joe’s kindness and generosity were well-known, often giving good deals and treating everyone in the music field with warmth.
Joe also played in a band called the Ravens, which performed at many weddings and special events throughout New England. His contributions to the local music scene were immense, and he left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
In memory of Joe, his lifelong friend William Laliberte has organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise $5,000 for a memorial bench and plaque to be placed at the music gazebo in Memorial Park, North Attleboro. This location is significant as it hosts music events during the summer and the farmers market, reflecting Joe’s enduring legacy in the community.
As of today, the fundraiser has raised $105 from three generous donors: Paul Lykus ($50), Kathleen Lapointe ($50), and Matthew Divoll ($5). Any additional funds raised beyond the goal will be contributed to a scholarship fund for music students at North Attleboro High School.
