Joseph Lopez, Freeport, NY— Joseph Lopez, affectionately known as Alex, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024. His sudden departure has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him. Alex, a man with a generous and kind heart, was known for his selflessness and the love he shared with everyone he encountered.
Alex had battled severe liver issues for many years, and after a long wait for a compatible donor, he was finally able to undergo a liver transplant. Unfortunately, after the surgery, his body rejected the transplant, and despite his courageous fight for life, Alex passed away after a month and a half of struggling. His family, heartbroken by the loss, is now seeking assistance to bring him home to the Dominican Republic for his final resting place. A fundraiser organized by Maria Elena Peguero has already raised $3,275 towards the funeral costs and burial in his homeland.
