Joseph Maynard, affectionately known as Uncle Joe, passed away peacefully in the Philippines on September 27, 2024. Uncle Joe’s passing came after a long battle with health issues, during which he was hospitalized multiple times. His final wish was to spend his remaining time in the country he cherished, surrounded by the beauty of the Philippines.

Despite his family’s deep love and support, the financial burden of Uncle Joe’s medical bills has weighed heavily on them. His medical expenses were not covered by his U.S. benefits while he was abroad, leaving his widow, Edith Maynard, and stepson, Edward Lago, with significant costs. Ellen Rodriguez-Swing, a close family friend, has organized a fundraiser to help the family manage these expenses and honor Joseph’s wishes.

The community has shown their generosity, with donations coming in from friends and loved ones.
