Joseph Patrick Leonard, Clarksville, MD—Joseph Patrick Leonard passed away at the age of 64 in his home on September 25, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Joe, as he was affectionately known, was born in Syracuse, New York, and grew up in Baldwinsville, New York. He served his country for 13 years in the U.S. Army, specializing in military intelligence and electronic warfare, which took him to Korea, Germany, Massachusetts, and the Middle East. After his military career, Joe became a leader in the cybersecurity field, known for his vision and guidance.
Joe touched the lives of many through his friendship, mentorship, and infectious personality. He had an unmatched ability to make everyone he met feel important, whether discussing football, politics, or family. He was a devoted son, calling his mother daily, and a proud father who never missed his daughters’ volleyball games or dance tournaments. Joe was also a loving husband, always by his wife Brandy’s side, whether fixing things around the house or enjoying simple moments together.
Joe is survived by his wife of 24 years, Brandy Leonard, and their two daughters, Taylor and Haven Leonard. He also leaves behind his son Joe (Jennifer) Leonard, daughters Melissa (Kyle) Zavaski and Sarah Leonard, and ten beloved grandchildren: Alina, Isaiah, Carolyn, Mahayla, Aaron, Owen, Lily, Jasmine, Keller, and Miranda. Joe is also survived by his mother, Patricia Leonard, and his brother, Mark Leonard, along with many other loving relatives. Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph Leonard.
A fundraiser has been organized by Brandy Leonard to honor Joe’s memory and support the family. Amanda McLaughlin has made an early donation of $25.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Joe’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
