Julio Ortiz, Ogdensburg, NJ—The community is mourning the expected passing of Julio Ortiz, a devoted father and beloved partner, who faced a courageous battle with cancer. His fiancée Brandy, his children, and co-parent Suzann Brush have organized a fundraiser to support end-of-life arrangements and medical expenses.
In April, Julio received the devastating diagnosis that would change his life. He resolved to fight his illness with unwavering determination, enduring multiple treatments, hospitalizations, and setbacks. Despite facing significant challenges, including cardiac arrest and intubation, Julio’s fighting spirit never wavered.
On July 28th, a day that should have been a celebration of his birthday, Julio experienced a severe cardiac event at home, followed by additional episodes at the hospital. With the cancer spreading and doctors expressing concerns about brain damage, the family made the difficult decision to transition to comfort care. However, in what can only be described as a miraculous turn, Julio regained alertness and continued to improve, allowing him precious time with his loved ones.
Unfortunately, after another cardiac arrest on September 16th and further complications, Julio’s condition deteriorated, leading to severe brain damage. The family is now preparing for his transition and facing the daunting task of planning final arrangements.
The fundraiser organized by Suzann Brush, with a goal of $6,500, aims to cover the costs associated with Julio’s end-of-life care, including cremation, additional services, and memorials. At this time, no donations have been made, but the community is encouraged to contribute and share the campaign to support his family during this heart-wrenching period.
We extend our deepest condolences to Julio Ortiz’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this painful journey.
