Justin Corey Tapp, Kannapolis, NC— Justin Corey Tapp passed away on November 2, 2024, after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident on November 1, 2024. He was 35 years old. Corey, as he was affectionately known, was a beloved husband, father, and friend. His untimely passing has left the Kannapolis community heartbroken.
Corey was a long-time resident of the area, having graduated from A.L. Brown High School and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. For the past five years, he worked as a mechanic at Hendricks BMW, where he earned the prestigious Service of Excellence Award. Corey was known not only for his professional accomplishments but for his passion for cars, cooking, and above all, his deep love for his family.
Corey leaves behind his wife Brittney Sloop Tapp and their two children, Braylen Robert Tapp and Ella Grace Tapp. He is also survived by his step-father James Friesner, sisters Amanda Jones and Jessica Sexty, and extended family, including his in-laws Rick and Cindy Sloop. Corey’s family and friends remember him for his big heart, infectious laughter, and his willingness to help anyone in need.
A celebration of life service was held at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis on November 16, 2024, with Pastors Randall Ritchie, Brian Duncan, and Corey Allie officiating. The community came together to honor Corey’s life and legacy.
In addition to the service, a fundraiser has been set up by Malana Leigh Litaker to support Corey’s family during this difficult time. Donations can be made to help with expenses, with $100 already raised through the generosity of early supporters.
