Kawsu Sillah, Dallas, TX—It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kawsu Mohammed Sillah, a cherished member of our community. Kawsu tragically lost his life in a car accident on Friday, August 2, 2024, caused by a drunk driver.
Kawsu was known for his dedication and kindness, making a significant impact on those around him. He lived in the DFW metroplex for six years, previously residing in Minnesota and Wisconsin. His untimely death has left a profound void, especially for his wife and three children, who remain in The Gambia. His oldest son is just 17 years old.
A fundraiser has been organized by Amadou Bah to assist with funeral expenses and support the family that Kawsu left behind. Out of the $20,000 goal, $903 has been raised so far from 11 donations. The community has shown their generosity with contributions, including $100 from Matarr Touray and Pamodou Senghor, and a recent donation of $25 from Ekram Haque.
The outpouring of grief and support on social media highlights the deep impact Kawsu had on those who knew him. Balla Musa, in a heartfelt post, expressed, “With heavy heart, we announce the passing of our dear uncle, brother and colleague Kawsu Mohammed Sillah. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! May Ya’Allah grant you Jannatul Firdaus and forgive your shortcomings.” Alieu Njie shared, “May his soul rest in peace may Allah grant him janatul firdawsi.” Similarly, Stick Shine wrote, “May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Accept my condolences.” The sentiments continued with Aji Joof lamenting, “Ohh my good brother, so sad. May Allah grant him jannatul firdausi,” and Sanna Samateh praying, “May Almighty Allah have mercy on his soul together with all the Muslim departed souls.”
Kawsu Sillah will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The love and memories he left behind will continue to resonate within the community.
