Keilia Winidgo, Wolseley, SK—The community is reeling from the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Keilia Winidgo on her 18th birthday, August 18th. Keilia, who had recently graduated high school and had dreams of becoming a forensic scientist, brought joy and light to everyone who knew her. Her unexpected departure has left her family and friends in deep sorrow.

Keilia was known for her kind heart and positive outlook on life. Her mother, Kristen Windigo, shared on Facebook the immense pain and confusion she feels, recalling how Keilia was filled with joy and laughter on her final day. Kristen expressed that despite the tragedy, she chooses to forgive, as she knows Keilia would have wanted.

Keilia had planned to attend the University of Regina this fall, with further plans to study at the University of Alberta next summer. Her aspirations were high, and she worked diligently to make her late aunt, Waneesa Ironchild, proud. Unfortunately, her dreams were cut short, leaving a void in the lives of all who loved her.

The community has rallied around the family, offering prayers, condolences, and financial support. Kristen Windigo expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and assistance, highlighting the incredible support they have received. A fundraiser organized by Nasha Sutherland, a close family friend, has been set up to help cover funeral expenses and other financial needs. So far, $270 CAD has been raised out of the $9,000 goal, with donations from Paula Hicton, Jonathan Thompson, and Kimberly Hotomani.
