Kelly Paduchowski, Flagstaff, AZ — The community is grieving the tragic loss of Kelly Paduchowski, who was a victim of domestic violence. Kelly’s life was taken on June 30th, leaving behind two young children, ages 7 and 9.
Kelly’s untimely death has shocked and saddened many, as she was a beloved mother and friend. Her children now face an uncertain future without her care and support. A fundraiser has been organized by Ly Walthall to help with the children’s childcare costs and education expenses. The goal of the fundraiser is $35,000, and it is hoped that the community’s generosity will help provide some stability for her children during this difficult time.
Sage Faul expressed deep anger and frustration on Facebook, writing, "This man is beyond disgusting and should die in prison, but instead, no, we are gonna give a man who killed his wife 16 years? You got to be kidding me. I am beyond pissed. This justice system is whack! And to her neighbors, you could have potentially saved her life when you heard her screaming. You should be ashamed of yourselves!"
Photographer Jake Bacon shared his thoughts, along with a photo taken by Sabrina Lakin, stating, "Sabrina managed to grab a couple of photos as she drove by and immediately sent them to me. This was a big deal on my day off because it told me that Paduchowski was talking with detectives and that today would be the day where there would be some movement on the case. Sure enough, the press release came a few hours later announcing a 4 p.m. press conference at the police department where it was announced that Paduchowski entered into a plea agreement to plead guilty to second-degree murder. He will serve every day of a presumptive 16-year sentence."
Amy Reichert Leppert also voiced her disgust, writing, "So a despicable human murders his wife, hides her body, and uses the whereabouts to leverage a plea to a lesser charge? Really, is this the best we can do? He gets 16 years for murder! She didn’t even get 16 years with her babies! Disgusting!!"
The community’s reaction on social media reflects a mixture of grief, anger, and frustration with the justice system. Many feel that the 16-year sentence is insufficient for the crime committed. Kelly Paduchowski’s memory will live on through the love and support shown by her friends, family, and the Flagstaff community.
