Kevin Kat, Long Beach, CA—The Long Beach community is grieving the loss of Kevin Kat, who passed away on July 27th. Kevin was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, coworker, and friend. He was known for his perseverance, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
Kevin is survived by his wife Brainda Nou and their daughter Evelyn, who turns 11 months old today. Brainda and Kevin had been partners for seven years and married for three. His sudden passing has left a void in the lives of all who knew him.
Kevin was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, a rare malignant egg yolk sac germ cell tumor, on February 20th, after experiencing severe pain during his paternity leave. Despite his brave fight, the aggressive cancer and its complications took a heavy toll. He was in a medically induced coma for over a month due to the side effects of chemotherapy.
A fundraiser has been organized by Brainda Nou to help cover the expenses for Kevin’s Traditional Buddhist rites, which will last five days, and his funeral. The goal is to raise $20,000, with $10,000 allocated for the rites and the remaining $10,000 for the funeral. Additional funds will be used to cover medical and living expenses, as well as support for their daughter Evelyn. As of now, $600 has been raised through the generous donations of three contributors: Anonymous ($100), Stanley Chi ($200), and another Anonymous donor ($300).
The community is rallying around Brainda and Evelyn, offering their support and condolences. The love and strength Kevin brought to his family and friends will forever be remembered.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Kevin Kat’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
