Fort Walton Beach, FL—Lamarcus Jamial Purnell Jr. tragically passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, leaving his mother Kelly Fitzgerald and family in deep sorrow. The 21-year-old faced sudden complications from a virus combined with pneumonia, which ultimately led to congestive heart failure.

Kelly, a dedicated employee of McAlister’s Deli, has been struggling financially, caring for her three disabled adult children on her own. The unexpected loss of her son has been a devastating blow, and she now faces the added burden of funeral costs without the means to cover them.

To support Kelly during this incredibly difficult time, a fundraiser has been organized by Alissa Barr, who has worked with Kelly and recognizes her as a kind and hardworking individual. So far, the community has shown their support through generous donations, with contributions from Maureen Wood ($100), an anonymous donor ($100), and Jose Lobato ($50). Despite the help, more is needed to ease the financial strain on Kelly and her family.

The fundraiser aims to alleviate the financial challenges Kelly is facing so that she can focus on grieving and supporting her family. As of now, no arrangements have been made due to the lack of funds.
