Lamya Moffett, a recent graduate of Fayetteville State University, passed away on Friday, October 2024, leaving behind a grieving community and family. Lamya had earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in the spring of 2023 and was known for her strength, resilience, and kind spirit.
Lamya’s battle began just before Christmas of 2023 when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Despite her valiant fight and unwavering determination, her life was tragically cut short. Her family is now facing the difficult task of arranging her memorial service while also navigating the emotional and financial burdens that come with such a loss.
To honor her memory and help her family, Kieara Porter has organized a fundraiser to cover the expenses of Lamya’s funeral and memorial service. The community has already begun to show its support with donations, including contributions from A’Clea Johnson ($20), Alexis Barber ($20), Teresa Dockery ($50), Amani Valines ($20), and Ty Hamer-Yelverton ($10). Every donation, no matter the size, is appreciated as it helps ease the burden on Lamya’s family during this challenging time.
Lamya’s impact on those who knew her was profound. She was a devoted daughter, a loyal friend, and someone dedicated to helping others. Her memory will live on through the love and compassion she shared with those around her.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lamya Moffett’s family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time. May she rest in peace, and may her family find comfort and strength in the support of the community.
