Layla Justine Anaya, Tucson, AZ—Community Mourns the Loss of a Bright Soul

Layla Justine Anaya, Tucson, AZ—Layla Justine Anaya passed away recently, leaving behind a community in deep sorrow. She was 23 years old. Known for her radiant smile and caring nature, Layla was a dedicated dental assistant who aspired to become a dental hygienist.

Layla’s battle with leukemia began three years ago. She bravely underwent chemotherapy and, after a year of treatment, went into remission. During this period, she returned to school, eager to start a new chapter in her life and further her career. Unfortunately, her cancer returned, and despite her resilience, the subsequent treatments, including a bone marrow transplant, brought severe challenges and discomfort.

On the morning of September 20th, Layla’s condition worsened, leading to her transfer to the ICU. Despite the medical team’s best efforts to stabilize her, Layla passed away at 10:05 PM. Her courage and determination to maintain her cheerful spirit throughout her ordeal left a lasting impact on those around her.

In memory of Layla, Rumaldo Campos has organized a fundraiser titled "Celebrating Layla’s Loving Spirit and Legacy" to help support a beautiful service in her honor. The community has shown its support through kind donations, including contributions from Anthony Ahumada, Marco Vega, and Breana Dominguez.
