Born on March 9, 1954, in Carthage, MO, Leroy was the son of Ellis Lee Sr. and Helen Maxine Stark. On August 5, 1993, he married the love of his life, Angela Kay, in Miami, OK. Leroy was a devoted father to his children: Gipsy & Jonathan Rider, Shannon & Makala Myers, Regina & Francisco Garcia, Shawn Houston, Adam Houston, Tabitha Reyes, Leroy Ellis & Lacy Stark III, and Helen Stark. He was also a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, known for his deep love for his grandchildren.
Leroy was a hardworking man, having owned his own business painting barns and silos, before moving on to work in laying asphalt. His work ethic and friendly personality meant that he never met a stranger, always offering a smile to those in need. Leroy was also a lover of singing, dancing, and spending time with his family, which brought him the greatest joy.
He is survived by his siblings, Theoda Smith, Karen & Randy Tatum, Everett & Debbie Stark, Tommy & Debbie Stark, Tammy Stark, Teddy Stark, Carol Stark & Cara Borland, and Michelle & Nelson Boswell, all of whom he held dear. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ellis Lee Stark Jr. and Victor Eugene Stark, as well as two grandsons, Zachary Ryan Gibby and Blayne Roger Gibby.
Leroy’s passing has left a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, and his family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses and other costs during this difficult time.
