As a survivor of the Cambodian genocide, Ly Eng Ros and her husband, Sorn Ros, faced unimaginable challenges, including fleeing to Thailand with their children, and later rebuilding their lives in Oakland, California. She and her husband were blessed with a growing family, eventually raising seven children. Ly Eng Ros was deeply devoted to her family, particularly her children and grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy. Her home was adorned with framed pictures of her grandchildren, symbolizing the love she had for them.
In addition to her role as a dedicated mother and grandmother, Ly Eng Ros was a woman of faith and cultural pride. She found peace in nature, often spending time in her garden, and held a special reverence for the spiritual practices of her heritage. Regular visits to the temple were an important part of her life, as were moments spent with family and friends. Her cooking, which she lovingly prepared for those she cared about, was one of the many ways she expressed her love.
Ly Eng Ros was admitted to the hospital on October 28th in critical condition and underwent surgery. Despite the best efforts of her family and medical team, her time with them was sadly limited, and she passed away less than a month later.
