Madelyn Maddi James, Ironpot, QLD—It is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of Madelyn (Maddi) James. At just 20 years old, Maddi passed away on Friday, September 20th, following complications that arose after a successful transplant for her recurrent leukemia. She leaves behind her 6-month-old daughter, her partner, and a grieving community of family and friends.
Maddi had battled leukemia twice and had recently undergone treatment in Brisbane for almost six months, receiving constant support from her family. The family devoted all their time, money, and energy to make sure she had the care and assistance needed throughout her fight. Maddi also experienced the joys of motherhood despite facing such difficult challenges, always surrounded by her loved ones who provided unwavering support.
In the wake of this tragic loss, Daenera Sealey, a close family friend, has organized a fundraiser to help cover the costs of bringing Maddi home and for the arrangements surrounding her celebration of life. The family is deeply appreciative of any contributions from the community, which will assist with these difficult expenses.
As of today, $290 AUD has been raised from six donations towards the $5,000 goal. Those who have already contributed include Shari Marsden and Clare Banks, who each donated $100, and others who continue to offer their support in this time of grief.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Madelyn’s family and friends as they navigate this painful loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they honor her memory and care for her young daughter.
