Majdi Al Qishawi, Cypress, CA— It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Majdi Al Qishawi, affectionately known as Abu Khalid, who returned to the mercy of Allah on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Majdi was a cherished member of the community, known for his kindness and dedication to his family and friends.
The funeral prayer for Majdi will be held today, Friday, August 2, 2024, after the Friday prayer at Al Ansar Mosque. Following the prayer, he will be laid to rest at Cypress Cemetery, located at 4471 Lincoln Ave, Cypress, CA 90630. Condolences will be received at the Al Ansar Mosque after the Maghrib prayer on the same day.
The news of Majdi’s passing has left the community in mourning. Many have taken to Facebook to express their grief and share memories of the time they spent with him. Among the heartfelt messages, Moustafa Kamel wrote, "In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Brother Majdi Al-Qishawi (Abu Khalid) has passed away. We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return."
Nadia Abdelgawad shared, "الله يرحمه ويغفرله ويسكنه فسيح جناته البقآء لله" (May Allah have mercy on him, forgive him, and grant him paradise).

In response to Majdi’s untimely death, Mohamed Hafez has organized a fundraiser to assist with the funeral expenses. As of now, $3,610 has been raised out of a $20,000 goal, thanks to generous donations from the community. Mohamed Hafez himself made the top donation of $1,000.
