Mallikarjuna Thondapu, Bloomington, IL— It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Mallikarjuna Thondapu, a beloved family member and dedicated advocate. Mallik, as he was affectionately known, passed away after a long and courageous four-year battle with leukemia. He was a devoted husband, father, and son, as well as a passionate supporter of the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act.
Mallik’s journey was marked by resilience and selflessness. He faced multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, with his 12-year-old daughter being his donor. Throughout this difficult period, Mallik continued to support his family, never once asking for financial assistance, despite the tremendous burden of his illness.
His wife, who recently underwent cardiac surgery, stood by him throughout this ordeal, and their two young children, along with his elderly parents in India, are left to carry on without him. As the sole breadwinner, Mallik worked tirelessly, driven by his sense of duty to his family and community.
In his memory, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Anuroop Appineni to support Mallik’s family, who now face emotional and financial hardships. The funds raised will help cover living expenses, educational costs for his children, and provide stability for the family as they navigate this challenging time.
The community has lost a remarkable individual whose legacy of love, service, and advocacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
We extend our deepest condolences to Mallikarjuna Thondapu’s family and loved ones during this time of sorrow.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you carry forward his legacy of strength and love.
